In 1935, Jack Brown founded Brown Cabinet Company in a small building behind his home at 1512 North Ridge Avenue in Kannapolis. The shop originally produced wooden toys, with a workforce made up largely of women. After returning from military service in the 1940s, Jack shifted the business toward furniture craftsmanship.

Jack and his son, Doug, continued building furniture and gun cabinets for local furniture stores. In the late 1980s, Jack retired and Doug took over the company, eventually refocusing the business on kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, as well as desks, bookshelves, and entertainment centers.

In September 2021, Nick and Samantha Sanchez, acquired Brown Cabinet Company and carried its legacy forward. Today, GLR combines the craftsmanship and history of a cabinet shop that has been in the same Kannapolis location since 1935 with a modern, highly detailed approach to custom cabinetry.

From detailed design and build plans to manufacturing and installation, we oversee the process from start to finish. Every project is thoughtfully planned, carefully built, and crafted right here in Kannapolis.

Nearly a century later, the location has changed very little—but the way we build has evolved. The commitment to craftsmanship remains the same.

Today, GLR Custom Cabinetry is a hands-on cabinet manufacturer built around craftsmanship, planning, and personal service.

Our team designs and builds every project specifically for the space it is going into. From the initial design and detailed build plans to manufacturing, finishing, and installation, we stay involved throughout the process. Every cabinet is built right here in our Kannapolis shop by our local team of craftsmen.
